TwinTime offers a whole different method of teaching children how to tell the time. Here at EasyRead, we understand how difficult teaching the time can be – especially in a classroom full of excitable children. Our products are proven and trusted by hundreds of schools and thousands of teachers.
We recommend pairing the TwinTime Teacher Edition with the TwinTime Student Edition however this isn’t essential, our system works just as effectively if you purchase one or the other.
The TwinTime Teacher Edition was designed so teachers can stand at the front of a classroom to demonstrate setting the time with the moveable hands. It is wipe on wipe off so you can also write the time underneath the clock.
The TwinTime Student Edition is smaller than the Teacher Edition – perfect for children. They are perfect for children to work in groups or individually for setting the time on the clock face and then writing the time underneath.
As well as telling the time, TwinTime is also useful for counting forwards and backwards from 30, for learning fractions and counting in 5s and 10s.
Our 2 and 3 step teaching systems will work perfectly with TwinTime in teaching children how to tell the time. Take a look at them here.
The maths curriculum requires children to tell the time to the hour and half past the hour. It’s a daunting task and you might be wondering how you can help your child grasp this tricky concept. Many children have a difficult time learning how to tell the time so we have created a beautifully simple yet very effective 3-step method.
Let’s look at an example:
Step 1:
Read the number at the end of the long hand.
In our case, it would be ‘8’
Step 2:
Say which side it’s pointing to: ‘minutes to’ is the red side and ‘minutes past’ is the blue side.
On our clock, the long hand is on the red side so ‘minutes to’
Step 3:
Read the number at the end of the short hand.
The short hand is pointing to ‘2’
Put it all together so you will get:
‘8 minutes to 2’
Take a look at what our customers say about our 3 step teaching system:
“My five year old daughter learned to tell the time in five minutes!”
“Excellent, my daughter is very happy! She learnt time within two days – highly recommended.”
“I wish I had something like this when I was a child.”
“My son is 25 and has Down’s Syndrome, he’s used the watch and system for four days and is now telling the time correctly 99% of the time!”

Use our simple yet effective two step teaching method for ‘12 and 24 hour’ and our three step teaching method for ‘minutes past and minutes to’.
Children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and many on the autistic scale may struggle to learn to tell the time easily. They especially have problems telling the time on a clock with hands.
It may be that you can tell whole hours and half hours but not smaller chunks such as 8:04. People with S.E.N. might find it difficult to distinguish between the minute and hour hands. Also concepts such as ‘to’ and ‘past’ on a clock might be confusing.
As a parent, there are several ways you can help your children to learn to tell the time:
Our EasyRead watches and clocks are clear and colourful with a large dial showing every detail your child needs. Our simple yet effective three step teaching system makes it easy for children to learn to read the time in terms of ‘minutes past’ and ‘minutes to’ the hour. Our equally as effective two step system teaches children how to tell the time digitally.
Feedback from our customers indicates that our EasyRead clocks and watches really helped their S.E.N. children to learn how to tell the time.

Every child has to tell the time eventually, but how do you start to teach them? Our wristwatches will make the process of learning to tell the time easy and fun. With an EasyRead Time Teacher wristwatch a four year old can learn to tell the time in just 10 minutes.
They’re comfortable and colourful, with a large clear face that shows the child everything they need to know to tell the time. The wristband will fit even the tiniest wrist and it’s removable, so you can wash it when you need to. Our simple step by step teaching system means that anyone can help them learn.
In addition, we also offer clocks for the home. Our three step teaching system is easy to master, enabling the children to learn with very minimum input from the adults around them.
At the beginning of the year there is so much to think about; have I enough school supplies? Am I up to speed with the curriculum? When was that meeting again? It might sound too good to be true- but with Easy Read Time Teacher we have the perfect way to teach children how to tell the time. Our two systems are so beautifully simple and effective you will want to use them straight away.
These systems for learning to tell the time will give children confidence to tell the time without help. Reassure their skills with one of our classroom wall clocks in two different sizes and colours.
The three-step system for learning to tell the time in ‘minutes past’ and ‘minutes to’ the hour is quick and effective. Simply read the number at the end of the long hand, then read which side of the clock the long hand is on (either ‘minutes to’ or ‘minutes past’), followed by the number at the end of the short hand. The two-step system for reading the time in terms of 12 and 24 hour digital time is equally effortless. Read the number at the end of the short hand, and then the number at the end of the long hand. Explain that in the morning we read the big hour number. In the afternoon we can choose to read either the big or small hour number.
The key to any success is practice, practice, practice. Teach the children to teach themselves while at play with our large wall mounted EasyRead playground clock. The clock is a robust weatherproof construction with toughened glass lens for extra durability. The face design replicates the EasyRead Classroom Clock and takes the same 3-step time teaching method from the Classroom to the Playground.
Sit back and relax safe in the knowledge that teaching the time is not another lesson to squeeze into your schedule, but a class all set up and ready to go.
Now that children are back at school, they will be more eager than ever to learning new things. Now really is the best time to start them early on the important life skills like telling time.
